Our History
Traditional Bowhunters of Arkansas was founded in July of 1991 with the
intent of preserving and promoting traditional archery through 3-D
tournaments and hunting.
TBA Mission Statement: To preserve and emphasize the importance
of the heritage and the cultural aspects of traditional bowhunting. To
endorse and mandate the acceptance and application of fair chase
principals. Stress the importance of respect for the game pursued, other
sportsmen, the non-hunting populace, the natural resources upon which we
depend, as well as the official stewards of these resources. Finally,
champion conservation efforts from the hunter's perspective.
TBA members consist of both traditional archers and hunters. We are just
a great group of folks that like to have fun and fellowship through
traditional archery. TBA is a club for your whole family from beginners
to the experienced.
TBA has three shoots a year. The first shoot is the first Saturday of
March and is a shoot/work day to prepare for the upcoming state
championship. The second shoot which is our State Championship is the
first full weekend in June we shoot both Saturday and Sunday. Our final
shoot is in September on Labor Day weekend, this shoot is the Arkansas
Longbow state championship and is a longbow shoot only. We sometimes
have a shoot in August just depends on weather etc.
Our archery range is the Jack Whitt/Ben Pearson archery range in
Mayflower, AR. We have two full 3-D ranges and practice butts.
Membership in TBA is $10 annually or $150 for a lifetime membership.
Lifetiem memberships are only available after you have been a member
for at least a year. We welcome all who are interested in traditional
archery to come to a shoot, a hunt or a business meeting to see what
we are all about.
